Hi (announcement, random)
MT isn't nearly so bad as I thought.
Actually, it's a pretty impressive piece of software, and I didn't realize that it had all this neato XML-RPC and RSS/RDF stuff. I think I'll get an RDF aggregator after all (like what Carnage4Life is always espousing) and just switch to weblogging software which is actually intended to be used for weblogging. (How about that.)
Eventually I'll get around to making some templates of my own (rather than just using the stock MT ones), and maybe will even donate $20 to the MT authors. Huh. I'll also probably remove comments links and just link to the forum instead, since that's what it's for. Though I like how MT comments are actually threaded... hrm. I'll have to see about removing all of the Javascript reliance; I hate Javascript. Looks like it'll be pretty simple though.
Whee.
Update
Yep, messing with the templates now.
Comments
I'm currently writing (and have almost completed) a k5 diary-grabber for archiving my old stuff.
This software is indeed spiffy. I wish I had more time to play with it, to get my site the way I want. Oh well.
Oh, yeah, my only big complaint is that it leaves things in the cache, so that when you change something like, oh, say, by posting a comment, it doesn't update the local page until you hit reload.
Yeah, I noticed that. I have mixed feelings about dynamic sites which work by re-emitting static pages...
test of something, pay no mind
