Tuna noodle casserole (food)
by at 7:38 PM
Easy to make, filling, and doesn't taste horrible.
Prep time: 10 minutes of work, 30 minutes start to finish
Ingredient cost: around $4
Makes 4-6 servings
- One box macaroni and cheese
- 1/4 cup butter or margarine
- One can of tuna, drained
- Chopped green onions
- Chopped white or yellow onion
- Bread crumbs
- Cheeses to taste (such as grated parmesean and shredded cheddar)
- Seasonings to taste (such as paprika, parseley, oregano, etc.)
Add the cheese from the macaroni mix. Stir until more or less consistent. Add the tuna and vegetables, and stir until consistent.
Add seasonings, then cheeses, then bread crumbs.
Cover the casserole dish and bake at 350F (175C) for 20 minutes or until the breadcrumbs are nicely toasted.
Other suggestions: replace tuna with other meats/fillers, such as cooked sausage, browned ground beef, chicken (or cream of chicken soup), tofu, cream of mushroom soup, etc., and experiment with different seasonings and vegetables (green peas, diced carrots, etc.).

I can vouch for this recipe, as I use a very similar one. In fact, it's basically exactly the same except using boxed macaroni and cheese never occurred to me. I've just been using assorted noodles and making a random sauce.
I'm definitely going to try the mac and cheese approach next time ;)
