I agree completely. I used to rant about this, particularly because the CEO of a company I used to work for would say it all the time. It was the verbal crutch for most of the upper management in that company.
Unfortunately, the stuff they all were supposedly honest about turned out to be false.
Reminds me some insurance ad I saw on tv where they keep reminding us that they're not going to screw us over.. If they need to remind you to begin with, you're in big trouble.

It reminds me of those adverts where they make a big deal out of services which are either intangible or which ought to be provided anyway:
"Our staff speak a language you understand, to make sure you get the computer that's right for you."
