Yay another cat comic! And as for the "splat" in the middle of the night, I can totally sympathize. Not a fun thing to have to do laundry at four in the morning. Especially not fun when getting to the laundry facilities (at the apartment where we used to live) require walking out of your building into the cold (and sometimes damp) night and up and down a couple flights of stairs. Hey, at least the "splat" didn't come from the other end of the cat!
So does your cat vomit a lot? My kitty used to do it so much that we could actually whisk kitty onto the kitchen or bathroom linolium as soon as we were cued by her pre-vomit hacking noises. I'd say we saved ourselves from a difficult cleanup nine times out of ten! Kitty doesn't puke quite so much now that I've been better about brushing her regularly. My vets have always told me that some cats just puke a lot and usually it's quite normal. The two most common causes of normal cat puke (so I've been told) are 1) kitty gulped down a little too much food a little too quickly and 2) hairball-induced pukes (when kitty needs to cough up a hairball and the food comes out too). The latter is usually the cause of my kitty's normal puking. Thus the extra brushing now. An extra brushing a day keeps the hairball-induced vomit away!
Of course abnormal vomiting is a whole other story. We've also gotten really good at distinguishing normal kitty puke from sick kitty puke now that kitty is diabetic and has had several bouts of pancreatitis. Sick kitty puke (where kitty keeps vomiting bile and refuses to eat) is definitely cause for concern and should result in a visit to the vet! Especially when your cat is diabetic! But normal kitty puke (while a pain to clean up) is no real cause for concern at all. And I just wished that someone had told me this sooner because for years I used to get so overly worried about kitty puking so often (about once every other week).
Oh dear I actually meant to just comment on your comic and merely ask if you have a vomity kitty like mine. But I went on and on, just thinking out loud and temporarily forgetting where I was. Please forgive me if this is improper conduct for a blog comment. I've only started commenting in blogs in the last couple of months. Please do keep sharing the cat comics with us!
Oh, also, no warning at all. It was just, he jumped up on my bed just as I was about to fall asleep, nuzzled my back, then puked, with a sound which was not unlike someone chugging a gallon of water. (He didn't actually go "HWARGH!")
Hey that "someone chugging a gallon of water" description is a really good description of that sound. That's exactly the sound that my cat makes before she pukes. It's also our cue (the one I mentioned earlier) to whisk kitty onto the nearest piece of linolium!

My cat sometimes does that too, luckily not on my bed LOL!
