If you're using phpbb_integrate, it's definitely time to upgrade. (Also, if you're still getting BBCode errors, it's time to reread the original thread.)

The major things is I've fixed the race condition for good (hopefully), and made it so that to delete a thread you just have to delete it from phpBB (no more manual db tinkering).
