Woohoo! ()

Day off tomorrow!

And the day after that!

And probably all of next week too!

It's nice to see that John has gotten caught up to early 2000. I was afraid he was permanently stuck in 1998.

The great thing about this is that I can nullify my end of the contract without any liability, or without John even knowing that I did so — because he's the one who breached the contract for nonpayment, but in his mind he seems to blame the staffing agency for the whole situation. So he's angry at the staffing agency (not me), I no longer have to work for him but can still get a good recommendation out of him, and the staffing agency can finally dump a bad client. So everybody wins! Yay!

I'm not too worried about regaining employment. Things are picking up economy-wise, and I impressed the hell out of the staffing agency by putting up with John for so long. Plus, I've found some pretty interesting job opportunities through serendipitous web browsing, so who knows!

Oh, and this also means that I have plenty of time to hang out with my college friend Jared who also recently moved back to Albuquerque (which I discovered the other night, when I was about to email him to tell him I was coming to Austin in a couple weeks only to discover that he's not there anymore!)

Everyone's a winner! (Except the loser you had to work for.)

I wonder how he spins it in his head so that it's the agency's fault he stopped paying. If he's happy with you and your work he can't use the "The employee was not a good coder" excuse.

You'd be amazed. I had one boss who routinely underpaid and as an excuse, used "you shouldn't have taken that long so I reduced the number of hours".
