My plan for today was to try to leave work early and then move into my apartment afterwards. But then I got so heavily into DS programming and got a great handle on programming the main screen, but then discovered that I had to change like everything to get the second screen going (thanks to the excruciatingly messy memory mapping). But it's not that big a deal all told. But by the time I was done discussing that with Antoine (mostly just trying to explain what I'd found about the memory mapping issues) and also going over the animation compression with him some more, it was like 7:15 and I was pretty wasted.

So I emailed Antoine and told him that I'll be coming in around noon tomorrow so I can move in to my apartment. I'll probably buy some furniture too. Since having a place to sleep will be rather nice.

Anyway. Job went way better today, though there was an icky confluence of events:

  • I suddenly realized I was pretty hungry
  • I was developing a migraine
  • I really had to pee
  • The weekly development meeting started
and said meeting lasted like an hour and a half.

But, said meeting was also a big part of why things are going better now. We've got a much better handle on the sorts of divisions of labor, there was a lot of great brainstorming about how to use the WiFi chip in the DS, the production schedule has been officially pushed back two weeks (though I think it still allows for a system launch release), and even with my migraine I felt that it was a great meeting all around.

Also, it's looking like my interactions with James (the DigiPen graduate) are going to be fairly limited from now on, since he's working more on the toolchain and game logic side, while I'm being left alone in graphics/audio land. I'm also getting the hang of communicating with Antoine, and I'm feeling like people are realizing that I do actually know what I'm talking about. :) Which also comes with the territory of finally working my way through the API enough to get comfortable with it.

So, I guess it's time to get some dinner.
