It's Christmas at Ground Zero ()

by fluffy at 9:15 AM
I just thought I'd mention two things:
  • I actually work about 10 blocks away from the site of the Republican National Convention
  • Aside from traffic cones and a slightly higher-than-usual police presence, there seems to be absolutely no effect whatsoever
Though, ask me again when I'm trying to get home tonight.

(I should finally have DSL when I get home, too. Only I actually mean it this time.)

I thought that the convention proper didn't start until Tuesday?

Regardless, I think that late afternoon/evening will be when the stuff starts to hit the fan. I can't imagine very many self-respecting protestors to be up and about before noonish.

Oh, maybe things will get plenty nutty after all then. Most people around here don't think that there'll be anything noticeable outside of Madison Square, Central Park, or the World Trade Center, though some of the subways and buses are in shambles from this (none of the ones I go on, fortunately, but the PATH to New Jersey is rather messed up which impacts the other two developers who both live in Hoboken).

If the crowds get bad, you could start a rumor about killer bees on the loose and credit the hydraulic experts for the early warning Smile

Nope, UPS continues to be fucking retarded. (I've been waiting for them to deliver my DSL modem for about a week now.)
