My DS Shopping List (games)
by at 5:14 PM
When the DS comes out, I will have to buy one, and a number of games for it. Here are the ones I'm considering the most strongly.
- Feel the Magic: XY/XX (Sega) - This one is probably just going to be a fun diversion for a short time until I get bored of it, since it seems like it's mostly a "hey, let's take advantage of every feature of the DS in an unexpected way," but who knows.
- Mr. Driller Drill Spirits (Namco) - the original Mr. Driller is one of the few reasons I keep around my Dreamcast, and a dual-screen playfield-extension version should be quite awesome. Unfortunately, the music will probably suffer in the conversion.
- Super Mario DS (Nintendo) - The original Mario 64 was quite fun, and this looks like a great improvement on it overall. Kind of annoying how much Yoshi as a character has changed over the years, though, especially if they stay with the obnoxious Yoshi's Story sound samples which make him sound constipated every time he jumps.
- Sprung (UbiSoft) - It seems counter-intuitive, but I actually haven't played this game, aside from small parts of it for platform testing purposes. Most of what I've played has been great, though there's a few levels by one particular writer which I think will be an instant turn-off for most people. I'm glad to see that the early impressions appreciate the interactive music, too. (Hopefully I'll have enough time to tune the final soundtrack to match the action!)
- Jam with the Band (Nintendo) - a collaborative Beatmania-sounding thing. Doesn't sonud like it'll be out for a while though, and it may need to be imported. (At least there's no region protection on the DS.)
- One Line Puzzle (Nintendo) - the most interesting and unique puzzle game I've seen in a long time

Btw, there already are cheats out for Sprung, but it seems to be a different one
Also, I really hope nobody at UbiSoft finds out about that movie title, 'coz if so we'll have to change the name all over again. They're really paranoid about people making erroneous connections and infringing on a trademark and so on. With good reason, I guess, especially since there's already rumors flying around that our game is just a thinly-veiled marketing ploy for Fox's next reality TV series.
