Hating job right now ()

by fluffy at 8:36 PM
We need
  • longer deadlines
  • more programmers
  • less suck
meh

Anyone want to apply for a game programming job in NYC? We'd hire you pretty quickly if you have any talent whatsoever and can work in the US. I think. Antoine wasn't too clear on the timeframe. Either we'd hire you right now now now or we'd hire you at the beginning of next year.

Either way, seriously. Competence, and willingness to move to NYC. All you need.

God, sometimes I wish I could write code. Let me know if they ever need a good support supervisor/manager. Smile

!. Been there, refused to let work devour my life, got laid off, not making that mistake again.

2. Or perhaps games just aren't my thing. The conclusion that monstro systems programming is my thing is irritating but hard to avoid.
#3977 some guy (unregistered) 11/30/2004 02:45 am really?
I'm not hyper-talented but, decent & workmanlike. I can code; I worked for 5 years in C++, system-level stuff. I could stand both New York City and to write game code. Hum. If you're not just blowing steam, let me know where to send a resume.

I'm not blowing steam. Send it to me at magenta@(this domain) and I'll forward it on.

I think the whole "being a Canadian citizen" is what's in the way for you. :/

I'm a separatist, if that helps. o o

Yeah, but that and a dollar will get you a large coffee at Broadway Cafe. Razz

It's primarily an issue of work visas, availability, travel expenses, etc.

Oh, also, a word of warning to any prospective applicants: travel and hotel stays will be reimbursed, rather than paid for up-front, and the reimbursements tend to take a few weeks to go through. This can be problematic if you don't have a lot of money or credit available. I was only barely able to pay for that stuff and then also cover my first month+last month+deposit on my apartment when I first moved here, and so on.

Why hast thou forsaken me, government?

... Actually, it looks like a T1 annual work-term visa wouldn't be hard to get. But it's all moot unless Antoine nubbles my hook.
