Le perk ()

by fluffy at 3:08 PM
One of the many many perks at Amazon is that occasionally we get to go to things called "fishbowls" where an artist or musician or author whose stuff is on Amazon gives a little presentation for Amazon employees. Usually it's just some up-and-coming indie rocker or some motivational speaker who has a new book out, but next month for Amazon's 10th anniversary, the fishbowl is for Bob. Motherfucking. Dylan.

And I can't go because it's the same day as my sister's wedding.

(Of course, I talked about this already but it was buried pretty deep.)

Oh well. Tomorrow there's a fishbowl with Bruce. Motherfucking. Campbell. at lunchtime. Which HELL YES I am going to.

In late June, the we welcome Bruce Campbell, the "ultimate B-grade actor" who will delight us with a discussion of his upcoming book, Make Love the Bruce Campbell Way.

Full of satire and sharp one-liners, this autobiographical novel is a funny, breezy, high-camp affair.

Date: Tuesday, June 28
Time: Noon to 1:00 PM
Location: (redacted)

A limited number of copies of the book will be available on a first-come first-served basis.

About the author: In addition to his latest book, Bruce Campbell is the also the author of If Chins Could Kill : Confessions of a B Movie Actor. He has also starred in the huge cult hit Evil Dead series and has had feature roles in Bubba Ho-Tep, the Spiderman movies, the blockbuster Congo, and many other films. Bruce has also done a lot of television work and starred in the Fox series The Adventures of Birsco County Jr.

Personally, if I'd written that blurb, I'd have left off the bit about Congo. I don't remember him being in it, because that movie was so horrible I had to erase it from my memory.

Hmm. Bob Dylan.. Sister's wedding.. Bob Dylan.. Sister's wedding.

Would your sister be terribly insulted if you were to send her a postage paid envelope and ask her to send you a video tape of the wedding? Wink

Well, the concert is going to be webcast, so I'll just watch it with my family.

Anyway, video tape is so beneath both me and the HDTV I bought today. Wink

I will when it's actually hooked up. It's a 120-pound tube TV (nothing amazing, just a 27" Samsung CRT — took companies long enough to start selling HDTVs for those of us who don't want to spend $2000 and have to have a huge honking picture so they can see the nose hairs on a football player from 30 feet away).

Samsung TX-P2775H if you want to look it up yourself.

Heh, according to antennaweb.org, every single OTA station in Seattle is broadcasting in HDTV now. Neat.

Man, Mr. Campbell sure is funny. And smart, and quick-witted. That was an awesome hour.
