New G5, yay ()

by fluffy at 10:28 PM
Oh man, this computer is so fast. Installing Logic Pro 7.1 took all of two minutes. 1080p video content plays fullscreen silky-smooth. Logic's playing four physical-modeling tracks simultaneously in realtime and it's only using half of the CPUs. (Why sample a drum kit when you can simulate it? Hehe.)

I'm going to have such fun with this system. :D

halloween party ()

by fluffy at 12:33 AM
For the first time since middle school I actually dressed up in a costume. I went as an aging raver. It wasn't much of a stretch since it was mostly composed of things I already had in my wardrobe, though I bought some "relaxed fit" pants (which I'll probably wear a lot in the future), a studded belt (which I probably won't), some yellow sunglasses (which I wanted for driving anyway), and a Hello Kitty trick-or-treat basket to hand out lollipops, candy necklaces, glow sticks, etc. to people (and it's Hello Kitty so hell yeah I'm keeping it).

Most of the crowd at the party I was at was either too old or too young to understand what I was, but there were enough people who were just right, and it wasn't that difficult to explain it anyway. Not that I've ever been to a rave or taken Ecstasy or anything, but I've seen Better Living Through Chemistry and I've had friends who have related their E experiences to me, so that's nearly just as good, right?

Business trip ()

by fluffy at 11:35 PM
I'm going to be in Palo Alto on business from Sunday the 30th 6th of November thru Wednesday the whateverth. Or maybe later. For anyone who wants to meet up. I believe Sunday's already spoken for and on both Monday and Tuesday I'd rather just stick in the Palo Alto area rather than heading up to San Francisco, though.

Lest we become complacent ()

by fluffy at 03:03 PM
I think I've finally put an end to the whole Somalian wrong number thing, but I can't be sure.

I got another set of calls from them on October 7. So I added all of their numbers to my address book under the name "Somalian Idiot," and set it to have a silent ringtone. On October 7 at 11:43 PM they called again, and this time left a message, which of course I couldn't understand. (If anyone knows what the heck that message says, feel free to post a translation!)

I figured that was the end of it. I figured wrong.

Superman has a drug problem ()

by fluffy at 08:11 AM
I was up a bit early and so I decided to watch cartoons. The cartoon which came up was some version of Superman, except Superman's voice was that of Brock's (from Venture Bros.). He was building a flying cage platform to capture the active-resistance hippie robot drones (with laser beams) which were about to wreak havoc on Republican City, with the assistance of about 12 army men who he had flown up to the flying platform personally. In some brilliant move, Superman decided that sitting inside the cage trap was the best place for him and the army men when the robot drones arrived, and started shooting at everything.

"Oh no, now I'm going to be depressed," said Superman. "I should fax in a prescription with my SUPER FAX POWERS." He closed his eyes and put his fingers to his temples, and Aquaman-style 'thought waves' came out. Then the robot drones were in the cage and powering up to shoot everything, and he flew out the escape hatch above.

"Hey, wait!!!" shouted an army man.

So, my copy of We ♥ Katamari finally arrived yesterday, though I didn't get a chance to play it until today.

It's fun!

Yay, they've shipped! ()

by fluffy at 09:48 PM
Estimated delivery: Oct 18, 2005
Shipping weight: 90.0 lbs

By FedEx. Jeeze, no wonder it cost $90.

Perry's probably going to shit a brick when the delivery guy shows up with two 3'x3'x8" (or perhaps larger) 45-pound boxes. I should warn him.

Service ()

by fluffy at 09:26 PM
So, my Cobalt Flux pads still haven't arrived. I was starting to get a bit worried, so I sent off this friendly email:
Hi, my pads have been waiting to be shipped for over a week now (they were in "awaiting shipping" for a while, and now they're just "pending")... what's going on with them?
So I just got (at 9:30 PM, on Wednesday, which is of course 10:30 PM in Utah where Cobalt Flux is based), this email back:
What happened is that one of our suppliers came in two weeks late with a shipment, so platforms that were on schedule suddenly got pushed back a week. Anyway, we're staying late nights to finish the whole queue, and all orders should be going out within the next two to three business days. So your pad should hit you early next week. Sorry about the delay.
Yay dedication!

Pretty good monitor speakers (, )

by fluffy at 07:48 PM
So, if you've been paying attention to the Mighty Blogosphere, you may have heard about the Sonic Impact Portable T-Amp, which a bunch of audiophiles have been raving about as being an amazingly good amp for only $30. I figured I'd give it a shot. I also bought a pair of Mission m31i speakers (which are also available in a cherry finish), as I'm still quite happy with the pair of Mission 731is I have in my bedroom (formerly the fronts on my main audio system, replaced with a set of Athena AS-B2 fronts, AS-B1 rears, and an AS-C1 center).

Washington Mutual has my interests at heart ()

by fluffy at 11:16 PM
From the account disclosures pamphlet I got in the mail today after finally opening a Washington Mutual account:

Gender, Singular and Plural

Any references in this agreement to gender include masculine, feminine, and neuter.
Nice to know they consider all points within the multivariate spectrum. :D

Craig raises an interesting point ()

by fluffy at 11:50 PM
Where do I find the time?

(answer: not watching TV or playing video games or going out or sleeping.)

On that note I also did a song about Bjam's dad for the same thing.

♥ Seattle metro ()

by fluffy at 09:22 AM
Yesterday the bus driver was cracking jokes and basically doing this really fun stand-up comedy routine along the whole route, sharing trivia, joking about the rain and so on. (It was safe to do since it was a route on 3rd avenue, which is closed off to cars for the next two years.)

Today I got on a different bus, and asked the driver if he went to 2nd and Jackson.

"Man, I go all da way to Chicago, Illinois!" he said, jokingly.

After I got off that bus and was walking up Jackson, the bus being driven by yesterday's driver stopped at his last stop and was cracking jokes to his passenger load.

Guess it's time to move everything to beesbuzz.biz ()

by fluffy at 04:24 PM
trikuare.cx is up for renewal again, and the price is up to US$38/year. Plus, nic.cx no longer has the policies in place that made .cx such a nice alternative to the gTLDs, and anyway, trikuare.cx is constantly getting a hell of a lot of random zombie attacks and spam spoofing and so on. So I'm going to start moving everything over to beesbuzz.biz, like I was kind of planning on a year ago when this came up the last time around.

I have 90 days to do it.
