Finally folding trikuare.cx in ()

by fluffy at 3:43 AM
On the main page you might now notice a little capsule with various categories (and its own XML/RSS link icon), with things like art, code, and music. I've finally decided how to bring trikuare.cx content over to beesbuzz.biz; basically I'm just going to have MovableType manage it.

I'm making pretty sophisticated use of its nested category system, and using MT in a very non-weblog-like way. Hopefully this'll work out!

So far I only have music there (and even then it's only a bare minimum just as a proof-of-concept). The nice thing about how I have things set up means that each section and subsection can have its own theme and layout and so on (and my HTML is pretty flexible with regards to the sorts of CSS I can apply to it), though obviously I'm trying to keep the look more or less consistent with the main site. I'm also probably going to redesign my weblog (yes, again!) to make it fit a bit better. (Don't worry, it'll still be nice and plaid!)

As always, I'm needing to do all sorts of PHPy workarounds to MT's shortcomings. Go figure. Also I need to come up with some way to make the navigation a bit more clear. And of course I'm sure it looks absolutely horrific on IE but at this point I've stopped caring about IE at all. If people want to use such a broken browser it's their own damn problem.

Sorry to put this here but I just would like to ask you something, I googled for any help with the Aiptek Hyperpen 12000U on linux and then I found one of your posts from 2003 where you were complaining about it. Were you able to fix it? And could you help me out with installing it? thanks

I never got it working. Though apparently it has (crappy) OSX drivers now. Hooray.

But, no, I sold it pretty soon after that, at a huge loss. Yay technology, you get what you pay for, etc.

Wacoms are pricey but they're also functional.

And, by the way, you could have just posted in the thread from 2003. Thread necrophilia is way better than off-topic posts.

I recently took down my old main site and put the pieces in place to manage it with MT. I'm not using subcategories and so on, mostly because I don't expect to have a lot of content up there, but that may change. I was actually surprised at how relatively easy it was to set up. MT is pretty flexible.

Yeah, I noticed that. My site is complex enough that I do need to use subcategories but yeah, MT works very well with it so far.

Incidentally, I've had the LJ folks update the syndication account.

Doesn't look like it's been updated. Now it's just pointing at the placeholder 'this weblog has moved' RSS, and doesn't show the latest entry.

They just changed colocation sites, so some stuff has been updating slowly.

But it's working now. Grabbed your latest entry.
