DESTROY SOMALIA (rant)
Until I just got a couple at FOUR IN THE MORNING. And of course I hadn't set up my new phone to be silent for Somalian Idiot calls.
Sadly I didn't have the presence of mind to answer them and yell at whoever was on the other end. Blah.
Ugh, though it turns out that the Hiptop doesn't currently let you use any of the 'discreet' alerts for phone calls. WTF.

What phones do I have left? (geekery)
A free email → AIM gateway (geekery)
Well there's one now.

Dude, chill (rant)
Chill. Seriously.
I'm not entirely sure if you were already close to my side of the street when I started turning. Maybe you were already pretty close to my car, maybe not. I'm pretty sure I saw you start to run specifically in front of my car, but I was also pretty distracted looking for parking. You know how it goes. But it doesn't matter. I didn't hit you, I slowed down, you stopped and backed up, I kept going to not block traffic, and that's where most people let it go.
I'm not sure what you hoped to accomplish by following me around while I was looking for parking, gesticulating at me wildly and flipping me off, but it certainly didn't put me in any mood to roll down my window and apologize. Being confronted with the possibility of taking a knife to the face or even being yelled at has a tendency to make me not particularly amenable to wanting to do anything other than get away.
Thank you for not smashing in any of my windows or slashing my tires while my car was left defenseless several blocks away from the original random encounter. I am deeply sorry to have slightly delayed you by half a second while you were crossing the street.
HOWTO: Get affordable bleu cheese (food)
- Bleu cheese normally costs $20/pound
- The salad bar costs $7/pound
- The salad bar has bleu cheese crumbles
Result: $7/pound bleu cheese (with a little bit of spinach).

Phones: 2 down, a few to go (geekery, job stuff)
Honestly the Z520a is the only one I have left which I expect to sell at work. I should relist it on the for-sale list separately if I don't get any more nibbles tomorrow.

Major T-Mobile Security Issue (customer experience, geekery)
I've been with T-Mobile since 2001, and although they're still the best provider out there (in my opinion), they still have some pretty major potential problems. One particularly horrifying one is in terms of information security, which has been in the back of my mind for a few months, but which a well-publicized (and much more minor) issue with Sprint reminded me that I should really write about publicly, and this deserves a bit more than a comment on This Is Broken.
Strangely familiar! (geekery)

The Sidekick 3 sure looks and feels nice... (customer experience, geekery)
How long will it take? Who knows!
I love how they wasted no time in removing my T-Zones access when I changed plans but my account can't access the Hiptop APN yet, and every indication on the website makes it seem as if I won't get that access until the 25th. Ugh.

Guitar upgrade (music)
Now if only I could find a drummer so that Sockpuppet could become a real band (assuming Spud will play bass or keyboard for it).

PBS cooking show drinking game (food, media)
Do a shot whenever the host says something like "I wish you could be here and smell this."
Do a shot whenever the host starts to eat directly off the serving platter.
Do a shot whenever the host has visibly almost messed up.
Do a shot when the host says not to worry about writing the recipe down because it's "on the website." (Do another shot if the website doesn't have the recipe.)
Do a shot when the host makes prolific use of a product which benefits them financially.

GJ T-Mobile (customer experience, rant)
I'd just reactivate it but I can't really be bothered. Of course that depends on how quickly they turn on Sidekick data access when the SK3 arrives. Knowing them, I won't actually see that until the 25th.
WTG T-Mobile.
