Another new favorite wine ()

Tempranillo: one to look out for. Picked up a bottle at Ballard Market yesterday (based on one of their wonderful recommendation signs) and had it tonight with barbeque chicken pizza. It's quite good, somewhat like a drier Beaujolais, with a very clean finish.

I like Tempranillo a lot. Also Spain is still not a well known producer so you can get stuff cheaply. Another good up-and-coming area would be Portugal; a lot of places that make Port and using the same grapes to make excellent red wines now. Which Tempranillo did you get?
We have an awesome wine bar here in Maryland, Iron Bridge Wine Company. Rob, the guy that runs it makes really good recommendations for stuff, and the Wine Bargain list he sends out each month has great less-well-known stuff on it.

I didn't think to check the label, just that it's of Spanish origin (and not one of the Australian tempranillos). It was $10 for the bottle.

Most of my wine purchases come from Ballard Market, because they have a great wine selection with some great recommendations. Second most often would be from wine.woot though lately they've mostly been selling stuff that's too expensive or not my tastes ($25 Merlot is about $15 too much for a deglazing liquid).

On that note, a couple weeks ago I decided to try a white zinfandel again, and it was only merely adequate for drinking, but I found that it made a GREAT deglaze for ground turkey taco filling. Those were some damn fine tacos.

wine spectator gave it 83/100 (good).

no, i wouldn't spend $25 on a deglaze. that is money to drink!

white zinfandel is barely worth drinking and not worth paying money for. there are nice roses that you can get that are way better than that.

Yeah, I only even got the Zin because I needed a sixth bottle to get a bulk discount at Fred Meyer and I thought I'd try it out again.
