I sure hope people show up to dinner ()

by fluffy at 5:59 PM
I was debating inviting people to dinner at my place on Sunday since Marcus was visiting but he wasn't sure he'd be able to stay for dinner tonight, and then finally he said he could so I invited a bunch of people over yesterday. Then later yesterday he backed out since he and his girlfriend wanted to get back to Idaho sooner (which is totally understandable). And of course because of the short notice on the invite, the only people who HAVE gotten back to me have said they couldn't make it or they'd try to but it was doubtful, and so everyone else is in this indeterminate state and so now I have a feeling I'm going to be eating leftover enchiladas and soup for the next two weeks. Hooray!

I made cheese enchiladas with chipotle sauce, chicken enchiladas with red chili sauce (which came out a bit spicier than I'd like but hopefully it's okay when it's paired with the rest of the food), and a sausage and bean soup. I also bought plenty of veggies for a veggie platter but if nobody arrives I'll just have plenty to snack on for a while I guess.

Also, my condo is entirely clean right now, aside from a bit of clutter in my bedroom and the complete chaos on my desk in the studio. I know I've said this before but I'm going to try to keep things this way. Maybe now would be a good time to hire a regular cleaning person or something.

Ah, phew. Right after I posted, Annie arrived, and soon after that, John, Amy and Laura did as well (unfortunately Spud is sick right now). And I made just the right amount of food for everyone to have plenty while still having leftovers for the next few days (and also the enchiladas came out great). They all just left. It was a good evening. I am now drunk on wine. Yay!

Point 1: Hooray for guests! I keep wanting to have some friends over as an excuse to cook something marginally more elaborate, but haven't done it yet.

Point 2: Every time I make the effort to tidy up and clean out my work areas (be it my desk or the kitchen or whatever) I'm always surprised by how much more relaxing and pleasant it makes the space in question. So, hooray for cleaning as well!

Yeah, my condo is ultra-comfortable right now, if I ignore the big mess in the studio closet. I think that'll be my next weekend project.
