Finally gave up on waiiting ()

Seeing as how the Wii "family bundle" at EBGames had pretty much exactly what I wanted to get to begin with, I just ordered that. Of course it's a little more expensive than buying the things separately (since they add on a stupid "handling charge" at the end), and I could have done without the compulsory purchase of Sonic the Hedgehog or the 1GB SD card (though the former could be resold and the latter can be used in other things as well) but now I can at least look forward to when I can finally freaking play Twilight Princess.

So which will arrive first, the Wii (estimated shipping: 4/23) or my new TV (estimated arrival: 4/25)? THE RACE IS ON.

Because we still don't allow preordering the console at the regular retail price, and only have it available on marketplace with a $150+ markup.

You have a Gamecube, don't you? Why not just get that version? Hell, I thought that was one of the main reasons you GOT a Cube...

The Wii version seems a lot better on the balance. I decided I'd rather get 16:9 support and so on, and after all the initial "blah new controls" stuff it sounds like the new controls are better overall.

Estimated arrival: Amazon is a big fat liar. The delivery is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon. Woo.

Actually I could have gotten it tomorrow afternoon but I have meetings that I didn't feel comfortable rescheduling around the receipt of a toy.

So the Wii finally shipped. In two separate packages. One arriving tomorrow, the other arriving Friday. Both via UPS. Which means I will likely never, ever see them. Bleah.

Only one of the packages arrived today. The UPS tracking page says 'delivered.' It doesn't say who (if anyone) signed for it, so it might not be there when I get home. (Hopefully it's more that someone else was home and UPS wasn't completely asstarded. Fortunately I can trust my neighbors.)

Of course the first package is just the Wiimote charging station, which will be nice to have at the outset but it's nothing I can really do anything with. Then again I've had the component cable for a week now, so. Hopefully both things will feel the love tomorrow or Friday.

In their weird little world, 3-day shipping takes 6 days. Even though it is ALREADY IN TOWN.

And of course, now that I finally have a Wii that I paid too much for, Best Buy has fucktons of them. Oh well.
