Should I tell you about the times when I was first living on my own attempting to teach myself how to cook? There was this one time I decided to make fried rice. So I got some rice, put some oil in the pan, and started frying it up! Crunchy!
But my family has a classic "bad cooking" story. My stepfather loved liver. My mother hated liver. My stepfather could cook moderately well. His favorite dish was "Viennese liver", which was liver in some sort of gravy. One day, he and a friend of his decided to get together and cook this. The wives would get Kentucky Fried Chicken. (I liked liver, so I planned to join them.)
Things went well until they started adding flour to the gravy to thicken it. They added more and more, but it just would not thicken. This caused much consternation and swearing until suddenly they discovered...
...that the unmarked Tupperware they thought was flour was really powered sugar.
At that point, lesser men might have thrown in the towel, but they were determined to save the dish. So they served candied Viennese liver about an hour later.
I had the chicken.

I regret that I can't think of any stories to contribute, because Schadenfood is an awesome name. 'Tis a shame you're currently at the very bottom of a Google search for that name. Yep, fifth.

It's actually just a link to this weblog entry, anyway. I'd have been surprised if the actual site were to show up yet - I only registered the domain like two days ago.
