As if it weren't already hard enough to follow (media, rant)

Okay, so I'm trying to watch Lost because everyone's all HEY ITS REALLY GOOD and stuff (yes I know I'm late getting into it) but ABC has decided, in their infinite wisdom, to do non-stop trivia popups through the whole show. They are very dumb (e.g., when a character refers to something that happened in the present, it says, "We now know this is a flash-forward") and very obnoxious and distracting. Who the hell thought this was a good idea?

Anyway I guess the popup trivia was just for the replay of the 3rd season finale or whatever and so I tried watching tonight's new episode which didn't have it and okay there's this guy making fried eggs for this dude who's locked in his basement and the basement dude doesn't seem to care so much and just kind of laughs at the captor dude, and the captor dude gets pissed and throws the plate against the wall and his neighbors are all 'LOL that's Locke for you!' and that's when I switched to watching The Joy Of Painting.
Bob Ross played with a squirrel, and painted a warm winter scene. Then he made a mistake on the base of his cabin and performed a "cabinectomy." It was much better.
Also, generally when you get a novel you don't have a copy which starts at chapter 57. I really hate heavily-arc-based TV shows. Stargate and Prison Break are about my limit for what I can stand as far as recurring continuity goes.
