YouTube is so passé ()

Apparently, the new hotness is making fake video reviews on Amazon.

Well, are they less likely to be deleted?

They're probably more likely to be deleted. Amazon has a tendency to delete extremely unhelpful reviews since they want their reviews to be, you know, helpful. While the people who work there have a sense of humor about it, the people who sell things through Amazon tend not to.

When I worked there I saw several internal threads where people were having a good laugh about fake/joke reviews and then someone from the "community services" group would say something like, "Sorry, while this is indeed funny, the publisher/manufacturer/etc. has complained about them, and they provide no actual value to the customer." Notable examples of this are when people started posting postmodern literary criticisms of Family Circus books, and the various joke reviews of the (already-discontinued) Harry Potter "vibrating broom" and the Oozinator.
