Obligatory snarky WWDC commentary (geekery)
"Band" will be genuinely useful for me. Using a voice recorder to hum song ideas where I go doesn't work too well since my ideas usually have things like harmonies and stuff. Having a touch-sensitive on-screen keyboard will be a killer feature. I definitely want an iPhone now. (Or, you know, could keep using my iPod Touch.)
Background processes: Nice, they handled the background process/notification thing exactly how I was hoping they would.
Oh, good, bulk message moving. The one thing that was missing for me on the email app (because of how I have my server-side spam filter set up) and with that + the possibility of decent IM clients (see above) it actually becomes a laptop replacement for me. Yeah, definitely getting an iPhone, even if there are no 3G updates. (Which I know there will be.)
mobileme sounds good. Finally, .Mac gets compelling enough to consider actually paying for it. Also I've been getting pretty irritated with Plaxo lately. (Although so far they aren't quite clear as to whether mobileme's email is the same as the system mail app or if it's its own stupid thing that only works with me.com/mac.com addresses or what.) Also this fixes my one huge concern about contact/calendar sync issues.
Yep, it's 3G, surprising nobody.
Wow, $300 for the 16GB? No mention of a carrier subsidy yet. I hope I can still get that month-to-month (since at least on the original iPhone the AT&T non-contract cost was actually better given my usage patterns).
So the only question now is: go to the Stockton St. store which will have a huge crowd (mostly from Moscone center people) or just order it online and wait a couple weeks? I guess I can wait. (Oh, heh, apple store is back online with plenty of information, except for the trivial bit of detail of "when will it be available." Because right now it isn't.)
(oh, July 11, according to the Stevenote. So everyone has to wait anyway.)
Okay, big downside is that mobileme's PC support is limited to Outlook and Outlook Express. Hopefully they just neglected to mention Windows Live Mail, but in any case it'll probably be a while before it's useful with Thunderbird/Lightning. Either that or I'll have to figure out some other way of dealing with meeting invites. Not that those happen that often, but when they do it's really annoying. (Also, I have absolutely no desire to have yet another email account, much less one that's supposed to be universal to all of my various Internet presences. I would still only use this for sync, but having direct iPhone sync actually almost makes it worth the $8.33/month.)

Is she doing what I think she's doing?
What, using a ballpoint pen as a stylus? It's probably the retractable kind.
What? That's stupid. What are you supposed to use, your fingers?
Why would anybody make a PDA-like device that you can't even use with a stylus? Well, I guess I should expect nothing less from Apple.
I was pretty dubious about it at first but it definitely works well.
Also, technology-wise it's a requirement for the multitouch to work (there's basically no way to do that on a resistive screen).
