Folding cycle monologue ()

by fluffy at 9:44 AM

The beginning

I guess I should head to work on my folding bicycle. Oh, hey, carrying it down the stairs is a lot easier than the Mongoose. So there's that, at least.

Getting on the road

Hm. It's a lot more comfortable than I remember. Hm, I do seem to need to put in a bit more work to get up to speed. The grip-shift transmission definitely feels a lot easier to work with than the trigger shifters though. Also the brakes on this are a hell of a lot firmer. It probably helps that there's less mass to stop.

Upon making the first turn

Wow, this feels pretty unstable, due to the relative lack of angular momentum. This will take getting used to.

While on the main thoroughfare to work

Man, I'm going so much slower than usual. So many people are passing me, and kind of looking at me disdainfully. But so far so good. I'm sure I can put up with this until the new year. Maybe I'll just stick with this bike permanently, whether my homeowner's insurance covers the theft or not. We'll see.

Upon getting on Division

Okay now I feel really slow. And I'm actually getting worn out. What the hell? At least traffic is lighter than usual right now.

Upon making it to Townsend

Gaaaah, I'm so slow, and tired.

Upon arriving to work

Okay, this sucks. I'm going to get a new full-size bike January 2 if my Mongoose hasn't turned up by then. If not sooner.
