Dishwasher auto-drying idea (geekery)
But I have an idea which I think could revolutionize how dishwashers dry their dishes! (Or at least make drying happen more quickly and thus reduce spotting and pooling on the bases of my stemware and the like.)
(yes I drink from stemware regularly SHUT UP)
Obviously, doing some sort of forced-air venting thing would be bad (since it'd make a big puddle on the kitchen floor or whatever), but why not steal a page from the ventless clothes dryer book and just do condensation drying? It doesn't even need any extra plumbing or ducting or whatever, as it could work entirely with what the dishwasher already has - after finishing the hot-rinse cycle, fill the bottom of the dishwasher with a little cold water, wait about a minute, and drain, and then repeat this a few times.
Okay, having some sort of internal breeze generation to mix the hot water vapor with the cold would be useful. Or, instead, just have a couple of cold-water pipes running along the sides of the unit which it just cycles cold water through.
Or another simple idea which would work along the same principles: line the sides and front with Peltier junctions, which would effectively "vent" the heat out of the dishwasher and cause condensation on the walls inside etc.etc.
I could just open the dishwasher when the rinse cycle completes but usually I start it when I go to bed (or actually I start it a couple hours after I go to bed, since my dishwasher has a delay-start setting).
Yeah I know I should hold onto my inventions better and try to monetize them but it's a lot easier to let other people do the hard work and then I can be all "Y'SEE?! That was MY idea!!!" and then I can die impoverished and bitter, which is the new American Dream.
