Plaidophile

I'd post a detailed writeup but having just seen the video recording, I have to say that it's followed basically the same arc as my Austin set, with different songs and a different cast of characters.

It seems I can be confident or decent, but not both. Gah. At least my backing band completely kicked ass, and my own voice and guitar were mixed so low that the damage is minimal.

Now I know why I only sold two CDs, at least one of which was to another Song Fighter. This is why it's so dumb that musicians live or die by their live concerts, rather than by their albums, and why if I do want to make more of a music career for myself I'd be best suited in a production role. I mean I'm pretty okay in the studio, but that's a very controlled environment.

Oh, and on a related note, last night I got sick of the continuous mailings I was getting from Slice The Pie and so I logged into the site for the first time in a while to turn them off. While I was there I noticed the three songs I'd posted (Run Faster, Bad Cat, and Night Terrors) had gotten a lot of reviews, pretty much all bad, based on the lack of "mainstream appeal." The most ridiculous one was how Bad Cat was "the most hilarious song ever" but was "too funny to be taken seriously." Because all music has to be ULTRA SUPER SERIOUS I guess.

Meh.
