The world's cheapest iPod/iPhone stand ()

A post on Matt Haughey's blog reminded me that I never shared my secret to making an excellent and cheap iPod/iPhone holder.

Materials:

  • One large metal paperclip
  • (Optional) Some insulation taken off of some wire or a bit of shrink wrap or whatever (or use an insulated paper clip)
Procedure:
  1. Bend the paperclip to look like this:
  2. Insert iPhone/iPod/whatever:

Oh, and I didn't have any insulation, so I just wrapped the pointy end with some scotch tape.

That works too! It's just there to keep from scratching the back, really. There's no electrical reason to insulate it.

Thanks for the idea. I used a metal clothes hanger and made 3 stands out of it. I used ear plugs to cover the top and also used flexible pvc tube to protect as well.

That works too! Any stiff wire is perfect for this.
