How to reduce stress (, )

by fluffy at 11:12 AM

I have been a lot less stressed ever since making the following changes in my lifestyle:

  • Installing Comment Blocker on Firefox (and Shut Up on Chrome, although I'm back to Firefox full-time)
  • Turning off all email notifications for general-purpose comment systems (Disqus, TypePad, etc.) that I can
  • Sending all emails from comment systems that can't have notifications disabled (YouTube, Blogger, etc.) directly to the trash
  • Blocking/ignoring/gagging people on IRC and MUCKs who infuriate me
  • Not following blogs, LJs, etc. that have turned into nothing but whining or trolling
  • Not following webcomics that have stopped being entertaining
  • When something still manages to get me angry, taking a deep breath and thinking about how little it matters

Sound practice, in my experience.

Sound practice, I concur. If I do anything to stress or upset you, please let me know. I may or may not change (you and I will never see eye to eye on some things, I'm sure), but it's not my aim to make things worse for you. I want you to be happy. Best wishes.

I've learned to just ignore your ultra-Right-leaning LJ entries. Smile The blogs I unfollowed were more along the lines of technology trolling or going on and on about a failed relationship painted in a way that was VERY unfair to the other person.

Out of curiosity, which webcomics have you deemed no longer entertaining to you?

XKCD a long time ago, Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal a bit after that, and Schlock Mercenary and The Oatmeal very recently. Probably a few others that I forget.

You're standing in Pelosi's district!

Yes, but compared to most of San Francisco, I'm a moderate.

Yay for identifying all those potential causes of stress and avoiding them. Keep it up and hoping you are on the way to feeling better in both mind and body!
