Unity: Dietary considerations (2009/07/02)

If you're curious, here's the sketch layout of this comic.
Hira [poking at the carpaccio]: This is quite odd. You eat this every day?
Juni [holding chopsticks, ready to eat its last slice]: No, just more frequently than anything else.
Hira: Why not have a traditional Kajoshi meal?
Juni: As a political appointee, I need to be careful about upsetting the rather large insect population.
Juni: [Ape] is high in protein and not too fatty.
Juni: Also, a single beast produces a couple hundred servings. They're large, docile creatures. Perfect for such a big population.
Hira [holding a slice up, peering at it]: This just seems so... savage.
Juni: Most Southerners would consider us to be the savages.
Juni [done eating the carpaccio]: We're only fit to be whores in their minds... simple, insect-eating, backwater hicks.
Juni: But that is not how we're meant to be. We must change all of that.
Juni: That is what Tsan died for.
Juni [peering at the food delivery chute]: You should wash up. I'll order something more to your liking.

Guest art: Torpor (2009/07/04)

Here are some wonderfully-drawn little Unity character mini-portraits done by Torpor, who draws the nascent comic Sound & Fury, which promises to be pretty interesting (and certainly pushes all of my buttons so far).

Unity: Testimonial under duress (2009/07/13)

[[Hira emerges from the shower, wearing a towel.]]
Juni: See, doesn't that feel better? You look a hundred rounds younger.
Juni: I ordered some currant porridge.
Hira: You said you would tell me why you brought me here when you got your memory back.
Juni: Well, since you're here, it would be helpful if you could speak at my friend's [Hiero:tribunal].
Hira: "Since I'm here?" What is that supposed to mean, exactly?
Juni: Uh, well... I was a bit confused back in Kajoshu. I did not actually plan to bring you here.
Hira: What?!
Juni: But it's good that I did! Your [Hiero:testimonial] will help.

Unity: Suiting up (2009/07/16)

[[Hira sits on Juni's bed, while Juni rifles through its closet]]
Hira: How can you treat me this way? I'm your mother.
Juni: This is all for a good cause. I promise you can go home very soon.
Hira: Meh. After I do what, exactly?
Juni: Ed's [Hiero:tribunal] is part of a plan to expose the [Hiero:Academy] for what they are.
[[Juni puts on a shirt]]
Juni: Tamu has been suppressing vital research, and has attempted to discredit me. But he's the Dean General, so it is practically impossible to [Hiero:file suit] against him.
Juni: Ed and I worked out a different way to get him to [Hiero:court].
[[Juni checks something projected from its bed-side data node]]
Hira: Bah. And this will happen soon?
Juni: They say it starts today, but I haven't gotten a [Hiero:subpoena].
Hira: I don't know these words you keep using.
Juni: Well, if we need you, I"ll call and arrange for transport.
Juni: You should explore the city. Take a node and wear something nice out.

2009/07/23: I have not forgotten about you!

As mentioned previously, I am rather busy with things. I just got back from Spokane the other day and now I'm on my way to Chicago. I have a few Unity strips in the pipe but I haven't had time to finish them or anything. I am a busy bee. I would certainly appreciate guest art in the meantime.

2009/07/13: Wrist update

For now I seem to have my wrists under control, so I'm feeling comfortable with starting up on comics again. However, I am about to go on vacation for two weeks so even though I'll have my portable Wacom with me I don't know if I'll be doing much comicing.
