This isn't to say that I'm completely in the clear, but holy cow does it help.

[[fluffy sits at the table, looking a bit sick and desperate with a big pile of medical bills]]
fluffy [thinking]: Good thing my comic printing is paid for, because jeeze, these medical bills... how am I going to handle them all?
fluffy [thinking]: I wish I could put off my kitchen repairs...

[[fluffy looks down at an envelope from Wells Fargo Home Mortgage]]

fluffy [thinking]: And what the heck does Wells Fargo want? The refinance is already done!

Wells Fargo letter: Dear FLUFFY,
We're attaching a check in the amount of $[BIG_NUMBER], which represents the escrow funds due to you.
We're happy to have you as our customer and look forward to helping you with your financial needs.

Wells Fargo Home Mortgage

[[fluffy stares at the letter in surprise]]

I don't imagine that you went to the trouble of refinancing with no expectation of benefit, but that must still be a pleasant surprise.

Yeah, I was only really thinking of the long-term benefit. Also, I hadn't realized just how much was in my escrow account. Mostly it was particularly good timing, though.
