Closures

Transcript

[[real life, at the office]]
fluffy [looking over Alex's shoulder]: Wow, Alex, that's a pretty hilariously scary Javascript hack. Adding a closure property to String?
Alex: Being able to extend classes with added methods is a core part of the language.
fluffy: Yeah, but. STRING.
Alex: Why not? It's standard practice.
fluffy: Then I have yet another reason to appreciate Javascript *from a distance*. Doesn't that make things really confusing?
Jen [shouting over the panel]: HEY!
[[de^x/dx, in fluffy's studio]]
Jen: What the heck do you think you're doing?!
fluffy: Huh? Just a week of journal comics, why?
Jen: Nobody cares about your boring-ass nerd junk. You promised you'd only do us again for a while!
fluffy: I don't recall ever saying any such thing.
fluffy: Anyway, it was meta-humor about your comic, too, but I'm not sure anyone got the joke.
Jen: Gee, you think? Get back to work, "fluffy."
fluffy: Huh. When did I tell you my name?
Jen [pointing at the signature]: The one right there? Or would you rather I call you J-
fluffy [cutting Jen off]: Okay, back to your series! Jeeze!
