Yeah. So far, Dave (their HR guy) is taking his sweet time in getting back to me regarding an offer and so on. I called earlier today to check in but Dave was out, so I left a message which he never responded to. I also called Ruthie (the person who found and interviewed me to begin with) and she said that she has no idea, and only Dave can tell me anything.
But honestly, while thinking it over, in some ways the backup job here seems nicer anyway. I think it'll come down to the monetary offers I get. The local job is better-suited to me and my skillsets (there's lots of collaborative 3D stuff and lots of video editing stuff, while those will just be ancillary in the PA job), and I won't have to move and be away from my network of friends.
The only unknowns with the local job right now are benefits package and compensation. Also, with the local job it'll be easier for me to continue on with my PhD, and as much as I hate this city, I'm at least used to it, while it looks like Johnstown/Richland has a whole new set of quirks to figure out.
Plus, I won't have to learn to drive in the snow.
So, yeah, I'm weighing my options.
Next Friday, Chris (local guy) makes me an offer. By then I'll hopefully have gotten an offer from Dave.
I hate the old "let's shuffle them around" bit mixed in with the "$person is out of the office." I want THAT person's job, he's never around.
I passed on a job that would have required a move, because I thought I might have a job locally. Which wasn't the case. I'd probably still not go, but who knows.
I get the privilege of lerning to drive in the snow this winter. Oughta be a big old ball of fun.

Aw, did you go to a job interview dressed entirely in artistic license?
