Welcome to Albuquerque

My cats were surprisingly well-behaved. Shooby slept most of the way, and Toby was just fine for the first half hour, until he suddenly realized we weren't just going to Delphine's house. Then he was all meowy and angsty, until about 10 minutes before we got there. It was also hard to keep him from jumping out the window when we got to the border control checkpoint.

My cats try to cover everything that falls on the kitchen linoleum that they might want later, like bits of sandwich meat or old cat food. As you may know, properly installed linoleum cannot easily be moved by feeble cat-scratching motions.

It's not really related to what you're talking about, but I find it hilarious.

Ah, so THAT's why Shooby makes scratching motions around his food dish.

All this time I thought he was just severely retarded. Smile

You have to cross into Mexico to go from LC to Ab? Is that a shortcut?

No... in addition to the border check at the border, there's also an INS/DEA checkpoint about 40 miles North of Las Cruces (and also ones East and West of it). Rather than just doing a proper check at the border proper (I guess it makes the El Paso/Juarez commerce stuff easier to deal with, and it also gives the government another opportunity to racially profile).

Though, that day the usual one was closed down for some reason so it was the backup one just North of Truth Or Consequences.

Yeah why can't cats just be like dogs and enjoy riding in cars? Meowmie cried all the way from Phoenix to San Diego. By the way I like the drawing where your cat looks like it's as big as your car's back window. =)
