So both languages are syllabic? That means Kajoshu wasn't always a seperate colony...of course it's weird to think how else they both ended up on Unity. I think you might have already explained the linguistics to me, though, and I forgot. Confused

That's written Hiero. Kajoshi doesn't have a written language. Hiero is symbolic, with a phonetic alphabet for names and borrowed words the like. (It is based somewhat on Japanese, and of course the name is derived from "hieroglyphics," although in my reading it's pronounced "HEE-eh-ro.")

I don't have a whole lot of the symbolic language together, just a dozen words or so, plus some of the containment/grouping concepts (Hiero's equivalent to prepositions) and the number system.

I haven't spent a lot of time or energy developing that aspect since I see it as just a background thing that's more trouble than it's worth to deal with properly.

Other things I haven't developed well enough are the geography, social structures, etc. I figure that most of the species have their own "home turfs" (otherwise, how would they keep their populations up?) and the South, and specifically the Academy (the academic branch of the semi-militaristic government, which Juni, Tamu, Chandra/Kandra, and Sasha are part of), are some sort of big ol' melting pot.

One thing I did allude to is that only those born in the South can get tenure within the Academy, presumably a way to ensure that only those born into the Academy can rise to the top echelon (such as Tamu, who is I guess the dean of sciences or something).

Also, Agents (those under the Agency, the military arm of the government) are basically the police force. Keeping that in mind might make something Tanya says in the next comic a little more "interesting," if you haven't already thought of why there would be a Sniper specialist "with honors" who works within the South.

(She has a master's degree in sniping! I'd hate to see what her thesis was about.)

Oh, in the "cast" page I referred to him as the "minister of science." I think "dean" fits the theme better though.
