That would be a neat trick, since everything in Unity is powered by induction (they don't really have the sorts of persistent natural resources necessary to keep a supply of batteries around, but there's this GREAT fusion generator hanging over their heads all the time).
Also with the amount of current a smoke detector uses she'd have to have her snout right next to it, so she probably wouldn't notice anyway.
