I bought a house

OMG. It’s been one heck of a process but I finally got an offer accepted on a house I actually want to live in.

I’m trying not to freak out thinking about all the things I need to do.

It’ll be a while before I can move in (there’s a bunch of structural fixes which need to happen; the house was built in the 40s and moved in the 60s and some of the foundation work in particular needs updating), and there’s a few other things I’ll want to do to it as well (get it wired for Ethernet, etc.), and then before I can sell my condo there’s a bunch of stuff that needs to happen there too (particularly getting the last little dangling kitchen remodel project finally done, as well as doing some painting and so on).

I’m also going to have to do some furniture triage! The dwelling area of my new place is a bit smaller than my condo, particularly the office and the dining room. Fortunately the recording studio is going into the reasonably large basement (!!!) and the living room is nice and big, too. I need to figure out if there’s a place for my tall bookshelf though; it’s a really nice bookshelf but jeeze it’s big. And gosh I have no idea where I’m going to be putting a lot of stuff. Aaaaa.

Anyway, I can worry about downsizing when it’s time to actually move. And I expect the move process itself will take a few weeks, but I can also take my time.

Here’s some photos of the place:

The neighborhood is also pretty nice. It’s mostly suburban, but there’s a little mom-and-pop grocery store just down the street, there’s a functional pottery studio (that does classes/workshops!) a few doors down, and it isn’t too far from a mall with a Target and a QFC and a bunch of other stuff. There’s also a restaurant supplier fairly nearby, and also! My cats' vet has an office nearby too, so I can still keep taking my kitties to Urban Animal.

Oh, also, I’m technically leaving Seattle — this home is in White Center, a census-designated place. Most people still consider it to be Seattle even if it’s a different city council and there’s no mayor.

Anyway. I guess I can turn off my Redfin alerts now, huh?

Edit: I also just realized that the kitchen layout makes it perfect for recording cooking shows. That’s a happy little accident, but I might have to start doing more YouTube food content.
