Login on this site has been a bit flaky for a while since in my never-ending fight against AI bots I had switched to a multiprocess configuration to give the site a bit more robustness, but which had the side effect of most logins only having a 50% chance of working due to fiddly details inside Publ (or, more precisely, Authl, which defaults to only being safe for single-process configurations).

So, Publ finally implements multiprocess-safe token storage, which is something I’d been meaning to add since approximately forever ago (although it seems I never opened an actual issue to track it, oops), and this should make user login reliable again.

Thanks to Spud who finally lit a fire under my butt to fix this annoying issue.

Time for another proverbial cheese sandwich post¹. Thinking about the end of the year and what’s coming up for me.

This isn’t my annual aspiration wrap-up post; that’ll come later.

I’ve not been doing super great lately. I’m trying to get better, but I don’t know how.

I’m simultaneously doing great and not-great.

I got very little done this week and I’m feeling pretty bad about it.

Whoops, it’s been a little while since I’ve posted here. Well, okay, here’s some of the stuff that’s going on.

Some thoughts about lighting fires, both literal and metaphorical.

Today I went to Bartell’s to pick up a prescription there for the last time. Because Rite-Aid bought them out a while ago, and after making things there worse and worse, they’ve decided to just shut down all the Bartell’s locations that are near Rite-Aids, which is most of them, and I suspect their next plan is to convert whichever ones remain into Rite-Aids as well.

Whenever I walk to a store here I just see all the boarded-up storefronts, half of them from places going out of business, half of them shut down because of crime. Lots of shops have been hit by repeat burglaries, or arson, or who knows what else.
