life going on
Whoops, it’s been a little while since I’ve posted here. Well, okay, here’s some of the stuff that’s going on.
Mental health
I’ve been pretty badly depressed as of late. Chronic pain, the world being on fire, and every organization I’m a part of having its own little meltdown/implosion/drama/whatever has made it super difficult for me to want to do anything. So I’ve been just spending a lot of time lying on the couch and passively “watching” TV or whatever.
On the plus side I’ve gotten some gardening in, and that feels good and somewhat productive.
I’m also back to square one on my vertigo. I did end up buying a Comma 3X which I’ve installed and calibrated (and I’m running SunnyPilot) but haven’t tried doing any real driving with yet. Hopefully that’ll make it easier for me to get around again.
Music
For the last couple months I’ve been slowly working on another soundtrack, this time for a visual novel and the idle/clicker game that it’s a prequel for. That work is progressing slowly though. Hopefully there will be something to show in the future. The process has been a bit tricky because it’s been hard to get on the same page with the designer as to what the music should sound like.
I also have a couple of bigger performances coming up. May 23 with Trans Academy, and May 31 with Refraction VR. Both had been rescheduled due to some unexpected difficulties on the parts of the organizations.
Choir
This season I’d been super happy with how choir is going, and with all of the big changes both in the choir and in my own headspace I’ve been feeling like this was going to be my last concert cycle with them for a while and I was going to just take a break and ending it on a high note.
We also raised over $13,000 at our recent fundraiser show, which I’m super happy about!
Unfortunately a situation is happening which has made me want to take a break for other reasons. Hopefully this situation gets resolved soon, because I do want to finish out this concert season. We’re having a big board meeting this evening to try to figure out how to get to the next point.
Furality
I don’t remember if I mentioned it here but I got a booth at the dealer’s den for Furality! Hopefully this gives me even more visibility. I’ve been super busy getting my booth ready and I’m really happy with how it’s come together.
Gaming
I finally finished the Paper Mario TTYD remake a few weeks ago and it was absolutely fantastic. This time around I ended up doing the Pit of Trials and beat its super-tough boss on the first try (barely). I also unlocked the hidden companion and got all of the shine sprites. I didn’t bother with any other completionism though.
I was also really into Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom for a while but I kinda lost momentum when I got to Faron Wetlands mostly due to a pain flareup, and I’ve been having trouble getting back into it. Last night I at least made it into the dungeon proper but gosh that’s a confusing dungeon with a lot of weird puzzles I can’t brain.
Disability
I still have a disability hearing coming up in July, and now I’m getting buried in paperwork again. This paperwork indicates that they are confused about when I was last working (they thought I worked at Hover in 2023, not 2022), have odd notions about how chronic pain medicine works (they want all of my new/ongoing medical records regarding the diagnosis in the past year), and are also definitely setting me up for failure. I hope my attorney is on the ball with this stuff. Bleah.
