Upcoming music stuff
Here’s what’s currently going on with my music things.
Choir
The choir is working on our next concert cycle, for two shows around Trans Day of Remembrance. We’re also working on planning our fall talent show.
Albums
I’m about halfway done recording Transitions (which, incidentally, is still open for preorders). At my current pace (even accounting for slowing down due to pain and having taken some time off from Transitions to finish up Notions) I should still have it done by November, hopefully.
And because my brain can’t just drop an idea, one of the abandoned ideas from Transitions has spawned a kernel of yet another upcoming album, tentatively entitled, “Recombinant.”
Novembeat
I’m not sure I’ll be participating in Novembeat this year. My friend Paul originally started it as a getting-unstuck-with-music thing, and I’ve continued it along those lines. I am… not stuck with music anymore, and I need to not burn myself out like I’ve ended up doing some years.
VRChat performances
I am still planning on doing a VRChat concert on September 29 at 9 PM Pacific. Hoping to see a bunch of you there. It’ll also be streamed and recorded.
Website
I haven’t worked on the new Sockpuppet website in a little while. I need to get around to it though. This sort of post is what should be going on the Sockpuppet blog, not on my personal blog, right? But I need to have a proper Sockpuppet blog on which to put it (and no the tumblr does not count).
Making a proper music website is so much work and I’m not sure it’ll be worth it in the end. Who even looks at websites anymore? Hopefully this new renaissance that RSS is having (at least within my own little bubble) is a portent of a future trend.
Also despite everything I do see Bandcamp as being my primary sales channel going forward. Having my own website just makes it easier for folks to discover the parts of my music that they might want to listen to and also makes it possible for me to advertise potential other sales channels.
Busking
For folks who want to help out financially, please remember that I have a Patreon and Ko-Fi, I can take tips (both one-off and monthly) through Mirlo, and also I am now on Comradery.
But even more importantly! It would mean the world to me if you share my music with your friends. Word-of-mouth advertising is super important. If there’s a song of mine you like and which you think someone else would like, share it with them! Invite folks to my concerts, too. That’s the single best way to make a difference in my life — getting my name out there. Building an audience is my top priority, first and foremost.
Thank you so much.
