House updates and other miscellani

My new roof is finally getting installed. It sure is loud and poundy. Supposedly this is a two-day project so theoretically they are around halfway done. Unlike most home renovation stuff I can’t easily take photos showing the progress. Oh well.

Also after trying to work on some music in my newly-rearranged basement I was finding that having the computer desk in the center of the back “wall” with keyboard way off to the left looked cool but it made actually working on music a major drag, since I couldn’t just turn and start recording, I’d have to get up and take a few steps over, and that made my workflow really frustrating. So since I couldn’t work on music today anyway (because noise) I reoriented stuff to be a bit more like how it used to be, with the desk on the left and the keyboard to the right of it, and now it’s way more comfortable to work on things.

And speaking of music, I have a very minimal Novembeat album in progress. I dunno how much I’ll get done this month, between my pain flareup and being super busy/tired due to other stuff. But maybe I’ll find some time or energy to do a bunch more.

Also, I’ve been putting my 3D printer to work quite a lot lately, as I’m participating in a pop-up art sale in about a month with CoCA. It’ll be Thursday, December 7 from 5-9 PM at the CoCA gallery (114 Third Ave S. Seattle, WA 98104). I’ll mostly be selling a bunch of 3D printed pieces, as well as various enamel pins and I dunno, maybe some of my prints and comics? Who knows. I have a lot of stuff taking up space that I’d rather be taking up space in someone else’s home.

I’m definitely glad I upgraded to the Bambu Labs X1C. It’s legitimately a joy to work with. Also I’m having fun figuring out how to dial in its multimaterial unit, which is a hell of a lot easier to work with than the Palette was, although it’s unfortunately a lot more wasteful with filament as well, and a lot more difficult to dial in the actual transition lengths. I’m kind of surprised the X1C doesn’t have a purge dialing-in process, but I think they’re expecting this to be used at industrial scales with craptons of filament available or something? I dunno. It feels wasteful getting so much printer poop.
